Lyons Roars
These are the surviving issues of The Lyons Roar currently in the LHSAA collection. If you have an issue not shown here and would be willing to share a copy, please contact us.
The Lyons Roar was a school newspaper managed by students, with a teacher acting as adviser. Its pages brought together school news, sports scores, club activities, jokes, humor and the everyday interests of LHS students.
May issues included senior features such as activities through the high school years, “Last Will and Testament,” favorite things and predictions about life after graduation. The newspaper gave its staff opportunities to develop their writing and typing skills, express their creativity and include classmates in the life of the school.
Our thanks to Johnny Griggers, Larry Griggers, the late Gail Mayes Edenfield and the other classmates who loaned their copies for scanning. Their generosity helped preserve these voices of LHS.
